CMM Programmer - Open DMIS/Metrology
Means Engineering is seeking a hands-on CMM Programmer in the Carlsbad area who brings hands-on expertise with OpenDMIS, CMM programming, GD&T, inspection, and precision measurement. The ideal candidate is a programmer who is ready to contribute strong problem-solving skills and quality-focused metrology experience to a high-performance manufacturing team.
Essential Functions:
- Set-up, program, and calibrate CMM machines to inspect parts per specifications.
- Perform and document inspections at all stages—receiving, in-process, final, and shipping—using precision measuring tools.
- Supports First Article Inspections (FAIRs), nonconformance reporting (NCRs), and documentation in the ERP system.
- Works closely with Engineering and Production, review and approve MRB dispositions, and contributs to corrective actions, audits (AS9100, ISO 13485, ISO 14001), and quality improvements.
- Additional responsibilities include training others in measurement techniques and supporting cross-functional teams to meet production goals.
Requirements:
- A High school diploma and a minimum of three years of hands-on experience in CMM programming and metrology, with demonstrated proficiency in Open DMIS, GD&T, inspection, and precision measurement.
- Strong understanding of dimensional inspection processes, attention to detail, and the ability to independently program and operate CMM equipment.
- Must have knowledge of ISO9001, AS9100, ISO13485, ISO14001, AS9102, and FAR–DFAR requirements.
- Familiarity with quality testing tools and procedures is required.
- Strong English communication skills, including the ability to write clear and detailed documentation are required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP systems is required. Experience with Epicor is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Solid analytical and problem-solving skills, with strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
Compensation Range:
$33.22 - $37.11 per hour.
